LGBTQ+ Community

A space to explore identity, relationships, gender, and sexuality with support that is affirming, respectful, and free from judgment.

You deserve a safe space where you don't have to explain or defend who you are. Figuring out who you are and how you want to show up in the world can be complicated. Whether you're exploring your gender or sexuality, navigating gender dysphoria, considering transition, coming out, or trying to make sense of relationships, family, or faith, therapy can offer a space to work through it without judgment.

At Toolbox Counseling, we provide affirming support for LGBTQ+ clients at every stage of their journey. You don't have to have everything figured out before you come to therapy. We can make room for the messy, complicated, and sometimes conflicting parts of your experience while helping you build a life that feels more authentic and more like your own.

About Therapy For LGBTQ+ Experiences:

Therapy is not about telling you who you are or what decisions you should make. We'll work together to understand your experience, clarify what you want, and support you in making choices that feel authentic and sustainable.

  • Gender-Affirming Therapy — Exploring gender identity and expression while supporting you through gender dysphoria, transition, and the emotional aspects of living authentically.

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) — Connecting with your values and building a meaningful life while learning to navigate difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — Identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns, shame, anxiety, and beliefs that may be affecting how you see yourself.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — Building skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, relationships, and navigating difficult situations.

  • Identity Exploration — Creating space to explore questions about gender, sexuality, relationships, and identity without pressure to arrive at a particular answer.

  • Minority Stress & Resilience Work — Processing the impact of stigma, discrimination, rejection, and other stressors while building resilience and supportive connections.

  • Religion & Spirituality Exploration — Making space for the complicated relationship between faith and identity, including grief, anger, belonging, changing beliefs, or finding a way to integrate spirituality into your life.

  • Affirmative Family & Relationship Work — Navigating coming out, boundaries, communication, and relationships with people who may be at different places in their understanding or acceptance.
